Nice to meet you, Sir Falconfire de Stryke. Of course, it would be something great to go through this event and to make it as an opportunity, first step of a partnership.

But... Our Excellency Sindbad said the truth. Rohan is a Breton town and that's a problem. Mainly a problem for them and that's a pity... But they have chosen for it!
A little smile appears on the Knight's face. However, we can ask them for mercy for the travellers and to allow us to carry them back home. I say it again: the Breton army did not attacked and your friends are not ennemies of Brittany. When they will be in good health, an escort formed by members of an Order of knighthood could be allowed to take care of them... Under the sign of the Aristotelician friendship, beyond a politician point of view. That's what we can submit to Brittany.

Concerning my lady, I will tell her your wish. But you have to consider yet that the Grand Prévôt de France will have to decide about any mutual cooperation.

Athris smiled as he approached the conference room. So there were some talks about Brittany ? Arm in arm with his wife Saphyra, they came in the room. He recognized some of the people there, noded, but most of them were still unknown for him.

My Lords. My Ladies. Can I introduce ourselves ? This is my wife Saphyra Strandhögg du Chastel, representative of Brittany to the Ponant Alliance. And I am Athris du Chastel, vice-chancellor of Brittany to the English-Speaking World.

I heard you talking about Her Excellency Zywiec. I would like to reassure you about her and Father Kiane. They are now safely in convalescence in our town of Rohan. They have permanent talk with the Mayor and our Constable.

Falcon bows to his Excellency from Brittany. I would ask you then if you could find out if it would be exceptable for me to have safe passage so that I might escort them, when they are ready, out of the country sir. I am in know way there in any military capacity, just a Knight that wishes to visit with nothing but good will. I was planning to leave to cross the channel in a couple days.

Athris bowed to Lord Falcon.

As you know, our borders are closed, so travels in Brittany are not free but must be submitted to our Constable.
But you are a Knight and I understand your will to escort Lady Zywiec and Father Kiane.

Lord Sindbad and Lord Tazatron could confirm you that in the past I asked their help to make possible the safe return of a Britton Lady lost in England. So be sure I'll do my best to help them to come back home safely.

To make it easy, give me a letter (send me a Private Mail) where you'll explain me your will and describe your trip : where do you expect to land, when, if you travel with friends, which towns you ask to cross... such usual informations for the free pass. I'll transmit to the constable with a personnal letter.

So we'll talk about the details once you have the free pass, if you agree.

You are most gracious your Excellency, I thank you for your help. I would also be interested in establishing a relationship with any of your Knightly orders while there. I will be traveling alone and landing in St. Brieuc I would like to be allowed to travel to Rohan and reside there untill they can come home.

I welcome you into our home here and if there is anything I can do to make your stay more pleasant please let me know.

Turning to Dandolo, the same goes for you Sir, anything I may do let me know.

PostSubject: Re: Knightly Order Conference Room   Knightly Order Conference Room - Page 2 I_icon_minitimeFri Feb 10, 2012 8:24 pm

Cait entered and overheard the conversation regarding safe passage to bring Lady Zywiec home. Slipping up silently beside her brother she smiled, proud of him in so many ways. She leaned in close and whispered. You always were my hero and now you shall be the hero of a grateful nation. Addressing the gathering of honoured knights, Dame Caitilin humbly curtsied before the leaders of the Knightly Orders of the world.

If I may introduce myself, I am Dame Caitilin Stryke de Lusignon, Knight Marshal of the Knights of England. First let me welcome you all personally to our home. Sir Kenrich, Thank you for addressing the Orders and representing the Knights of the Realms of England here and as the Lord High Constable. I'm sure Dame Ghostwriter or Sir Seamus would be here if they were not otherwise occupied. Baldar and I have looked forward to this meeting for quite some time. Excellancy, Lord Sindbab, it is alway a pleasure to have you visit us here. Caitilin curtsied to Lady Saphyra as she was introduced. Excellancy, Lord Athris, any help you can be to my dear brother will be most appreciated. Lady Zywiec is one of our own Knights of England and I do wish to see her home safely.

I must apologize for the delays. Sadness has gripped England with the loss of our good King Faheud and Princess Ghostwriter will be very busy as the Regent in his stead. The King was quite interested in the meeting and encouraged proceeding in case he was called away.

Shall we continue with the business at hand? I have brought with me the document that outlines some of the standards of a Knightly Order in England. It was a cooperative effort of the leaders of the Orders in England with Sir Kenrich and Queen Cordelia when she lead the nation. I would like to have your thoughts please. Dame Caitilin offered a parchment to each.

Quote :
General Standards Template for Knightly Orders

There are two types of Knightly Orders:

1.Knightly Orders that give their primary loyalty to the Kingdom of England.

2. Knightly Orders that are Religious in nature and are primarily loyal to the Church, but must have loyalty to the Crown as well

Alongside these Knightly Orders is The Order of the Garter, the highest honour that can be awarded to individuals for highly valorous or meritorious actions that benefit England as a whole. The Monarch may also choose to Knight an individual outside of a Knightly Order.

The Crown recognizes two levels of Knightly Order:

1. Knightly Order (name)
2. Knightly Order (name) with Royal Honours

A Knight may be given the title of Royal Honours in addition to the Order’s Knightly title. Royal Honours will bestow upon a Knight the privilege of being Knighted by the Monarch, and the Honoured Knight will henceforth be addressed as a Knight of the Crown.

Basic Requirements needed to be bestowed Royal Honours:

1. Has a basic framework that includes a bare minimum of Squire, Knight, and a Knight Leader
2. Will maintain, teach, and practice the elements of Knightly Virtue
3. Will maintain open communication with the Monarch
4. Has an appreciation of the sanctity of Knighthood that it must be a process earned based upon ongoing service and achievement of programs defined by the Knightly organization and/or the Crown.
5. All Knights of an Order with Royal Honours may be Knighted by the Monarch. Aspiring Knights must gain the approval of their Knightly Order as well as the Monarch in order to be knighted. Applications of Knighthood are to be submitted to the Crown by the Leader of the Order

Process of Review

All new Orders must be in existence for a minimum of six months prior to petitioning for Royal Honours.

All Knightly Orders will be reviewed six-monthly by the Lord High Constable to ensure each is in good standing. Recommendations will then be brought to the Monarch for action as needed.

The Monarch and/or Lord High Constable may address any Order with Royal Honours regarding Knights, Squires, or other members demonstrating disloyalty to the Crown or activities counter to the Knightly Virtues. The Order will receive a warning and reasonable time to address the issue. If remedy is not demonstrated by the individual, or the issue is not addressed appropriately by the Order, the Monarch may revoke Royal Honours from the Order retaining the individual.

Similarly, any Knight bestowed with Royal Honours directly by the Monarch and not through any Knightly Order may be addressed regarding disloyalty to the Crown or activities counter to the Knightly Virtues. If satisfaction is not made to remedy the issue, the Monarch may revoke Royal Honours status and/or Knightly title bestowed.

If at any time an Order or Knight is lowered from Royal Honours status, the Order or Knight may appeal to the Monarch directly with evidence of fitness in hopes to retain Royal Honours status. The Monarch and Lord High Constable will hear the appeal, and the Monarch will give a final decision. As an exception, an Order or Knight guilty of Acts of Treason without pardon will not be privileged with an appeal process unless pardoned of the crime.

Knightly Virtues

Prowess: Will exhibit prowess in battle and strive for excellence in all endeavours

Temperance: Will exhibit moderation and self-restraint in thought, word, and deed

Loyalty: Will exhibit dedication to commitments and obligations through thought, word, and deed

Defence: Will shield and defend all who rightly depend upon one

Integrity: Will exhibit adherence to moral and ethical principles in thought, word, and deed

Faith: Will exhibit trust in one's beliefs in thought, word, and deed

Humility: Will exhibit modest opinion of one's own importance

Largesse: Will exhibit generosity through thought, word and deed

Nobility: Will exhibit nobility in spirit

Franchise: Will accept responsibility for thought, word, and deed

Each Knightly Order with Royal Honours will champion these Knightly Virtues to its best ability. Each Order will consider and implement these Virtues in its own fashion.

Appendix – Knightly Virtues

The following Virtues stand as the general standards for all Knightly Orders with Royal Honours and are subject to change if so requested by the Monarch.

Prowess (Valour, Excellence):
Strive for excellence in all endeavours expected of a Knight, especially martial, yet also otherwise. Embody strength used in the service of justice rather than for personal aggrandizement and gain. Use martial, intellectual, and moral strength to resist and defeat all forms of tyranny.

Temperance (Justice):
Seek always to understand and follow the “right” path, unencumbered by bias or personal interests. Recognize that the sword of justice can be a terrible thing, so its use must be tempered by humanity and mercy. Seek wise counsel in determining that which is “right.”

Loyalty (Obedience, Faithfulness):
Be known for unwavering commitment to the people and ideals you chose to live by and profess to others. Many circumstances require compromise. Loyalty is not among them. While loyalty must never be blind, it also must never be for sale. Be prepared for others to condemn you for your loyalty when they lack understanding for the basis of your faith. At times, you may stand alone, being loyal to what was rather than what is. Your final loyalty to a person or cause may be this: to speak the truth, no matter how difficult that truth is to hear, and most especially if one has done wrong.

Defence (Selflessness, Sacrifice):
Defend your liege and all those who rightfully depend upon you. Always defend your nation, family, and those who are worthy of your shield. In choosing the role of the Knightly Defender, you acknowledge that your place is in harm's way, between threats and those you defend. Although this path may be hard, costly, and even seem bitter to others, the Knightly Defender accepts this as an honour, rather than an obligation. In such times, you will inspire all by your example and good nature, even your enemies.

Integrity (Courage, Honesty):
Being a Knight often means choosing the more difficult path, often the personally expensive one. Be prepared to absorb losses in service of the precepts and people you champion. At the same time, you must remember that stupidity and courage are cousins – pointless risk or sacrifice is not noble. Courage means taking the side of truth in all matters rather than allowing for the expedient lie. Manifest your truth whenever possible while remembering to temper justice with mercy. Be prepared, as the purest truths can bring grief. In living this, you seek to uphold the highest truths and surpass the greatest tests of the human spirit. Exhibit power with integrity and control while acknowledging your risks and dangers.

Faith (Perseverance, Wisdom):
Have faith in your beliefs. Whatever your beliefs may be, they give root to the strength of certainty and give hope in the face of despair created by human failings. Faith, like Justice, must never be blind, yet must persist without compromise. Yet do not mistake stubbornness for Faith. Practice genuine internal reflection; carefully examine values and why they are held. Blindly accepting a belief without examining its consequences will result in the same as blindly accepting orders that lead to certain destruction, without benefit, to you or those you defend. Wisdom informs Faith, and that which is learned to be untrue is set aside, without shame, in the face of new knowledge.

Humility (Morality):
Value first the contributions of others, and give respect where it is due. Do not boast of your own accomplishments; if they are worthy, others will naturally do this for you. As much fun as it is to tell a good story, tell the deeds of others before your own, according them their own word-fame, rightfully earned through their virtuous deeds. Let your own actions be ethical, so they speak louder than your words. Let others see by your example that the Knightly path is worthy of respect and emulation.

Largesse (Generosity, Kindness):
Be generous, in so far as your resources reasonably allow. Be known as a giver of gifts, who expects nothing in return. Remember that gifts are often more important to the receivers when in the form of actions and words, rather than material things. A kind word often lasts longer in a person's memory than any object. Consider that nothing belongs to you – that you are merely the custodian of what you possess - and giving freely will come easy.

Nobility (Charity):
Live with dedication to the greatness of character by holding to the virtues and duties of a Knight. Remember that these ideals can rarely be reached or maintained, and that it is the quality of striving towards them which ennobles your soul. Nobility influences others, by offering a compelling example of personal dedication to the most beautiful expressions of the human spirit. Be Charitable with yourself and others in speech, action, and intention. Teach the Knightly path openly to any who seek your counsel, and encourage them to excel. Recognize that this can be easy in any given moment, but as with all of the Knightly Virtues, you will never be finished. In certain ways, living into your Nobility is your greatest reward, for if successful, you will be surrounded by noble friends: a band of great strength against the forces of mediocrity, cynicism, cowardice, and corruption. The Nobility of a true Knight creates other Knights out of those around him.

Franchise (Accountability):
Seek to live these Virtues as they were meant to be lived. Accept no compromises in your commitment. When in err, make amends in as public or powerful a fashion as that in which the error was made. Explain yourself in the simplest, most clear terms, and never make excuses. Own not only your own mistakes, but also the mistakes of others when theirs resulted from yours. Maintain in all ways possible the appearance and station of a Knight. As you wish to live, you must live. Comport yourself in the present as the person you wish to become in the next moment, hour, day, and year. Do not try to live this way, actually do so. Know that you, and those who serve in fealty to you, are a reflection upon your fellow Knights, and keep their Honour safe with your own.

Sir Morat, Sir Dandolo we are most interested in how you organize your orders, what requirements you have for your squires to raise to knighthood? How is your order in service to your country? I have many questions, so please forgive me.

Saphyra greeted people in the great hall of the knights.

As a former captain of the armies of Britain she was impressed by the values of knights in this place, this could be a model for the knighthood in France.

She curtsied before Lady Caitilin.

"Nice to meet you Lady Caitilin, I am so sorry for the grief that struck Lady Zywiec and Father Kane and believe me, my husband and I will ensure they return to your country in good health"

She hugged Falcon and gave him a kiss on the cheek. What will I do as Queen? Falcon, your question even vexes me. I will do whatever it takes to get the country moving in the direction of greatness. I will find people that will be committed to the same goals and let them do their jobs. One person can't do it all but must rely on the citizens to guide and work side a King or Queen.

Cait blushed and grinned at her brother. It has been months since I had anything but mead. Since the baby was born, getting the Knights of England rebuilt, the conferences and now the election of the Monarch, I really haven't taken a moment to relax. If you are going to the cellars bring some bottles back with you. I'm sure everyone would enjoy some of the fine whiskey we have collected over the years.
